Newcastle University
Newcastle sits among the superb Northumberland countryside in the north-east of England. From the rail station (1½ hours south from Edinburgh) the best way to get to the main campus of Newcastle University is by way of the convenient Metro system.
Perhaps the finest introduction to the university is to walk along King’s Walk, with the Student Union on your left and the arches of the Fine Art faculty ahead. It is a medium to large sized campus, and may take a little getting used to, but it really benefits from being so close to everything the city itself has to offer.
Famous alumni from Newcastle include judge Constance Briscoe, journalist Kate Adie, and comedian Rowan Atkinson.
