University of Aberdeen
The University of Aberdeen is located in the Old Town of the oil-rich city that shares its name. A short bus ride takes you down the hill to the city centre, the docks, and the train station (2½ hours north from Edinburgh).
King’s College Campus, the principal campus, boasts some lovely old buildings complete with medieval cloisters and an old chapel, giving the university an ancient feel. Nearby is the Foresterhill site which houses the medical faculty. Due to its position in the Old Town the university feels a world apart from the city centre, and students can enjoy the quaint old cobbled streets and alleys as they traverse between their halls and the faculty buildings.
Notable alumni include politicians Tessa Jowell and Alistair Darling, and Radio DJ Nicky Campbell.
