University of Hull

The main campus of the University of Hull is located just outside Kingston-upon-Hull (1½ hours east from Sheffield).

Everything you need is on campus, including some accommodation, although the bulk of first year halls of residence are in the nearby village of Cottingham, a short bus ride away. There’s a vibrant student scene around the university, while the city itself is something of a surprise to the first-time visitor, especially the older quarter with its ancient pubs and winding alleyways.

Hull also have a second campus to the north in Scarborough, a quaint seaside resort which appeals to a less urban oriented student. Everything at the Scarborough campus is like a mini version of the main campus, with a small Students’ Union and library, but this gives the place a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Famous old boys and girls from the university include former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, the poet Roger McGough, the late film director Anthony Minghella, and the band Everything But The Girl.
