University of Warwick

The University of Warwick is on the outskirts of Coventry, in some pleasant West Midlands countryside. It’s not in Warwick! Either Coventry or Leamington Spa are best for train links (both about half an hour south-east from Birmingham), as both have buses that run straight onto campus.

Warwick is fairly new in the history of universities, but has built itself a formidable academic reputation renowned worldwide. Everything one might need can be found on campus, from accommodation and sports facilities to restaurants and even a large supermarket, meaning most needs a student may have are catered for. Perhaps the best selling point of the university is its arts centre, with its theatre spaces, cinemas and bars, though the new student union runs it close as a vibrant place to hang out. The student population are very active, and make the campus seem almost like a small town.

Notable alumni include Conservative politician David Davis, TV personality Jennie Bond, comedians Frank Skinner and Stephen Merchant, and, finally, 80s icon Timmy Mallett.
